Russia must pay for thousand days of crimes and destruction in Ukraine, - von der Leyen
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that Russia must pay for the crimes and destruction in Ukraine.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
"Russia must pay for a thousand days of crimes and destruction. Today is a day of mourning, but also a day of promises. We promise to stay by your side as long as it takes. The future of Ukraine is in our Union. Your freedom is our freedom. And our Union is your home," she said.
The European Commission emphasized that in these 1,000 days "Ukraine and its people have withstood Russia's illegal attacks, such as those we saw a few days ago, aimed at civilian infrastructure and power supply systems."
"The European Commission stands firm in its commitment and solidarity with Ukraine. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the EU and its Member States have mobilized unprecedented economic, humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine and Ukrainians, totaling some €124 billion. We have provided protection to 4 million people fleeing the war, led international efforts to support Ukraine's sovereignty, security and recovery, and held Russia to account. We have imposed a series of far-reaching sanctions against Russia and its leadership," the press release added.
As a reminder, on November 19, the 1000th day of Russia's full-scale invasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Ukraine's Resilience Plan.
