Usyk defended his dissertation and received doctorate in "law". VIDEO

Boxer Oleksandr Usyk defended his dissertation at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs and received a PhD in "law".

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the UP.

The defence of his dissertation on "Administrative and Legal Support of International Cooperation in the Field of Physical Culture and Sports" took place on 18 March.

Usyk was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in "Law". The Academic Council unanimously approved this decision. Usyk's opponent in the defence was Oleksandr Morhunov, Honoured Kickboxing Coach of Ukraine. At the end of the defence, none of the representatives of the Academic Council had any comments on the awarding of the degree to the boxer.

A video of the defence of a research paper was published online.

What is Usyk's dissertation about?

"The dissertation is devoted to defining the essence and revealing the peculiarities of administrative and legal support for international cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports, as well as developing theoretical and practical proposals and recommendations aimed at improving administrative legislation in the relevant field," reads the abstract to Usyk's dissertation.

In his work, the boxer had to consider who exactly is responsible for international cooperation in sports - both globally and domestically. In addition to purely legal issues, Usyk also had to analyse how international cooperation affects the development of sports in Ukraine and the world: what opportunities it opens up for athletes and what challenges it poses.

As a reminder, Oleksandr Usyk is the current WBC, WBA, WBO and IBO world boxing champion in the super-heavyweight division.
