Most of 154 new prosecutors appointed by Shokin after re-certification used to occupy senior positions in prosecution agencies during Yanukovych tenure

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin has appointed heads of 154 local prosecutors' offices according to the recommendations of the selection commission.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

As noted, 178 local prosecutor's offices, which began operating from Dec. 15, 2015, have been created in the authorities of the prosecutor's office.

However, according to the agency, the head of one of the local prosecutor's offices in Odesa was not appointed since the decision of the selection commission of Nov. 12, 2015 concerning the selection of candidates for the post of the head of the prosecutor's office was overturned by the decision of the Odesa District Administrative Court Dec. 2, 2015.

"The competitive selection for the posts of head of 23 local offices of prosecution service including eight in the local offices in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea was not announced in connection with the occupation of the peninsula, as well as 15 local offices in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which are located in the ATO area," the report reads.

It should be reminded that the Acting Prosecutor of Kyiv ordered to dismiss major case investigator of the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office Yevhen Kudriavtsev, the son of former Deputy Prosecutor General Viktor Kudriavtsev, Dec. 7, 2015, in execution of the Law of Ukraine "on the cleansing of power".
