Rector of Berdiansk university nabbed while offering $10,000 bribe to deputy education minister

On Tuesday, March 1, the rector of a Zaporizhia region university tried to bribe Deputy Minister of Education and Science Andrii Hevko.

Censor.NET reports citing Ministry of Education and Science press service.

"The incident was filmed by representatives of the Security Service and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, who had been contacted by the deputy minister the day before. The attempt at bribing was provoked by machinations of the university administration during an accreditation audit of universities two weeks ago. The audit revealed the manipulations of student works done by fake people. The rector of the university addressed the deputy minister of education and science of Ukraine with a request to turn a blind eye to the revealed violations, offering a bribe. Andrii Hevko rejected the proposal and filed an appropriate complaint to the NABU," the press service noted.
