Putin failed to humiliate Ukraine with show trial of Savchenko, - The Wall Street Journal
A show trial of Ukrainian female pilot Nadiia Savchenko came as Russian President Vladimir Putin's attempt to humiliate Ukraine, which wasn't successful.
Censor.NET reports quoting a Wall Street Journal publication and adding that the Savchenko's defense presented all necessary evidence of her innocence, which was simply ignored by the Russian court."The point of this show trial was to humiliate Ukraine. Yet Lt. Savchenko has emerged as a national hero in Ukraine and has even been elected to Parliament in absentia. As the judge finished reading her sentence, she sang a Ukrainian revolutionary song and vowed to remain on a hunger strike. She may eventually be freed as part of a prisoner swap with Kyiv, but already she has cemented her status as a symbol of Ukrainian resistance to Russian imperialism," the article notes.
