Ambassador Pyatt on new Cabinet: More important than the “who” is the “what,” i.e. reforms program
This was announced by U.S. Ambassador in Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt in Hostomel, the Kyiv region, on Tuesday, answering the question of reporters about who should head the new Cabinet, on his opinion, Censor.NET reports citing the Embassy's press service.
"What the United States hopes to see is a Government and a Cabinet which is clearly committed to sustaining the significant progress that already has been made on reform. It's clear from the news this morning that there continues to be an active debate inside the factions and inside the Rada over who should compose the new Cabinet, but even more important than the "who" is the "what." That is, what will be the program of reform to sustain momentum with the IMF, to continue progress in implementation of reforms associated with the EU Association Agreement," Pyatt stressed.
According to the Ambassador, before the new Cabinet is formed, Ukraine will not receive financial aid from the IMF, the U.S., and the EU. In the case of the U.S., Pyatt stressed, the new Prosecutor General is also meant, the one "who enjoys the support and confidence of the Ukrainian people, the Rada, and civil society."
