Germany, Portugal, and Czech Republic were top citizenship-granting countries for Ukrainians in 2014, - Eurostat

According to Eurostat, 17,500 Ukrainians obtained EU-28 Member State citizenship in 2014. The greatest number of Ukrainians obtained EU Member State citizenship in Germany, Portugal, and the Czech Republic.

The total of 889,100 people were granted the EU-28 Member State nationality in 2014, a decrease of 9 percent compared with 2013.

"Viewed in terms of original citizenship, the largest groups that were granted the EU Member States' citizenship in 2014 were Moroccans (92,700), followed by Albanians (41,000), Turks (37,500), Indians (35,300), Ecuadorians, Colombians and Pakistanis," the EU statistical office informed.

Nearly 20,000 Russians also obtained EU-28 Member State citizenship.
