Poroshenko calls on EU to finalize Ukraine visa liberalization without further delay

"I welcome the long-awaited decision of the EU Council at the ambassadorial level on visa-free travel for Ukraine," the head of state wrote.
"I urge the EU to complete the process of granting Ukraine a visa-free regime without any further delay and fulfill its obligations," Poroshenko added.
On Nov. 17, the Permanent Representatives Committee (Coreper) agreed, on behalf of the Council, a negotiating position on visa liberalization for Ukraine. It confirmed the Commission proposal to grant Ukrainian citizens the right to travel to the EU and stay there for up to 90 days during a 180-day period.
The EU Council takes the view that granting visa-free travel to Ukraine should be done simultaneously with the launch of a new suspension mechanism.
On the basis of this mandate, the presidency will start negotiations with the European Parliament.
