Ukraine to hand over 15 individuals pardoned by president to “DPR”/“LPR” terrorists in coming days, - MP Iryna Herashchenko
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine First Vice Speaker, Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group to resolve conflict in the Donbas Iryna Herashchenko announced at a news conference in Kyiv on Monday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"Most of these 15 persons will be released after being pardoned by the president. He supported the initiative of the Security Service of Ukraine and humanitarian subgroup. The Pardons Commission under the head of state holds a meeting just today. A certain procedure needs to be passed, but we are making every effort for these people to be brought home as early as before Dec. 21 - Dec. 22," she said.
According to Herashchenko, the persons designated to be transferred to the "DPR"/"LPR" include six women, seriously ill and elderly people.
The Ukrainian government makes this step to revive the prisoner exchange process. "We expect this move to be rightly welcomed by the other party," the MP added.
