MP Savchenko posts lists of POWs and MIA in Ukraine's east. LISTS

Independent MP Nadiia Savchenko has published lists of Ukrainian fighters who have been captured POWs or went missing in action (MIA) in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Savchenko posted images with the lists on her Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"Why do we need to post the lists of missing and captured people? So that we are able to find them!" she wrote.

Savchenko advocates a classic three-stage exchange process used in numerous countries during the war. The first stage stipulates for exchange under the lists confirmed by each of the parties. The second stage provides for searching for those who remain on the lists in covert prisons and basements. The third stage, Savchenko writes, is a search for buried bodies, exhumation, and reburial of the killed soldiers.

Savchenko says Ukraine is requesting return of 129 prisoners. The enemy confirms only 42 of them. Another 494 MIA are being searched for by Ukraine, she says. In return, the militants request 524 Donetsk terrorists and 377 Luhansk terrorists to be released. Ukraine only confirms 265 names.

"Given the above, the first stage of exchange should include confirmed persons from both sides, which is 42 for 256," Savchenko wrote.

She also suggests exchanging prisoners under political charges. A total of 44 Ukrainians are being held in prisons of Russia and occupied Crimea, and 102 Russians are held in Ukraine for violation of its territorial integrity. The first stage of the political prisoners swap should be 44 for 102, Savchenko wrote.
