Healthcare reform to increase life expectancy in Ukraine by at least seven years, - PM Hroisman

Ukraine’s prime minister believes raise in life expectancy should be the ultimate goal of the domestic healthcare reform.

As reported by Censor.NET citing 112 Ukraine TV channel, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman said during the Q&A hour in the parliament.

"The health care system is of paramount importance. This reform is quite challenging and it will always have supporters and those who will be dead set against it. The reform should not pursue reduction in the number of health care facilities as an end in itself. The key priority and ultimate goal of the reform is as follows: Ukrainian citizens should live seven years longer than they live today. And this should be the jumping-off point and the goal of our reform," Hroisman said.

"We will also propose to introduce changes into the health care system funding," he said.

Hroisman earlier said that Ukrainians live 5-10 years fewer than citizens of the European countries, which he believes to be extremely unfair.
