The so-called 'Paska Index' shows that ingredients for 'paska' (Easter cake) became more expensive than in 2016.
Censor.NET reports citing Facebook of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine."On the Easter eve our team of analysts decided to find out the dynamics of the cost of homemade paska in 2017 compared to 2016. The study shows that homemade paska would cost 29.81 hryvnia, which is 35.3% more expensive than in 2016," the statement reads.
As reported, almost all ingredients became more expensive. The price of butter has risen about 34% since the beginning of the year. It had the strongest effect on the cost of the cake, since the share of butter is about 30% of its value.
The Ministry of Economic Development expects that inflation will remain at the level of 11% in 2017.
"Please note that the Paska Index is not an official macroeconomic indicator and does not reflect inflation or the consumer price index,'' the statement reads.
