Poroshenko signed decree on deprivation of citizenship of Saakashvili, - State Migration Service

An official statement was released yesterday by the State Migration Service, Censor.NET reports.

The agency reminded that the grounds for the loss of citizenship are listed in article 19 of the Law "On Citizenship of Ukraine." These include voluntary acquisition by a citizen of Ukraine of citizenship of another state (for national adults) or acquisition by a person of citizenship by means of fraud and deliberate filing of untrue information or false documents.

The materials on Saakashvili were received from the Georgian side. They are provided by the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, processed by the State Migration Service, and sent to the Commission on Citizenship Issues under the president of Ukraine.

Saakashvili was granted Ukrainian citizenship by presidential decree signed by Poroshenko on May 30, 2015. The same day he was appointed by the president a governor of the Odesa region.
