Sytnyk after visiting NACP: I do not rule out further crackdown on NABU over probes into authorities

Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Artem Sytnyk says the agency continues investigating high-profile corruption cases.

"One must be very naive not to realize that the authorities won't go easy on us over the cases we are investigating. Starting from Mykola Martynenko (People's Front faction ex-MP- Ed.), Roman Nasirov (suspended tax police chief- Ed.) and ending with the latest probes into the deputy defense minister and backpacks provisioning to the Interior Ministry," he told reporters Monday after visiting the National Agency for Corruption Prevention of (NACP), Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

Sytnyk was summoned to the NACP to be served a protocol on committing an administrative offense stating that he allegedly had not provided certain documents upon the agency's request.

He says that NABU is currently investigating several cases including those filed against NACP Chief Natalia Korchak. However, in his opinion, it was not the NACP chief personally who instructed to bring administrative charges against him.

"We expected such a reaction. We expected a large-scale media attack against us, use of leverage by officials linked to such agencies as NACP. Therefore, I do not rule out further administrative leverage, charges against agency members including me with following detentions," the NABU director said.
