Terrorists are Conducting Mine Warfare contrary to the Ottawa Convention - Ministry of Defense. PHOTOS
Advance units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine encountered direct signs of a large-scale mine warfare that the militants are conducting in the surrendered cities.
This is reported by Censor.NET citing the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
By mining the rail and road communications the separatists want to disrupt the supply of humanitarian aid delivered by the ATO forces to the residents of liberated cities in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The retreating militants try to mine not only the road ways but also infrastructure and livelihood objects of towns and villages in the anti-terrorist operation area.
"Contrary to the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines (Ottawa, 1997), the terrorists are actively using them. At that, the cynism of the pro-Russian terrorists has peaked - the militants mine objects completely oblivious to the fact that the probable victims may become civilians and even children," the press-service of the Ministry of Defense stated.
