Attack on MP Nayyem: court dismisses appeal against road-rager Saitov’s pretrial restriction. PHOTOS
Kyiv-based court of appeals considered the motion against night-time house arrest imposed on Ukrainian national Ahmed Saitov charged with attack on Member of Ukrainian Parliament Mustafa Nayyem.
As reported by a correspondent for Censor.NET from the courtroom, Saitov was the one who was driving Mercedes-Benz (registration plane AA 0095 TT) that cut up Nayyem’s car. After that he presumably called his brother Maga (Saitov Magomed) who, in turn, inflicted serious injuries on the lawmaker. It is the actions of Saitov Jr. that sparked off attack on the MP on April 30.
The court did not grant the appeal and left the suspect under night-time house arrest without obligation to wear electronic tracking device.
It is noteworthy that the prosecutor's office requested to place Ahmed Saitov in pretrial custody but the court dismissed the motion.
Saitov said that he "cleaned up his act" and got a job of a business consultant.

As reported, Nayyem was injured in a road rage incident in downtown Kyiv on April 30. The MP was taken to hospital with a broken jaw and subsequently underwent surgery.
Police officers established that the lawmaker was riding in his car towards Bessarabska Square. A Mercedes cut his car off which caused a quarrel between the MP and a group of persons that accompanied the driver of the Gelandewagen. One of the assailants punched the MP in the face during heated argument.
The offenders fled the scene. The law enforcers later detained three persons. One more person managed to escape to Baku.
On May 1, Kyiv Prosecutor's Office served charge papers to the detainees.
On May 2, the Interior Ministry put the runaway attacker, Magomed-Amin Saitov born in 1989, on the wanted list.
