Reuters reports that more than 600 people are now known to have died. At the same time, in Syria, more than 237 people were reported dead, and about 600 were injured, mainly in the provinces of Hama, Aleppo and Latakia.
The Turkish state agency Anadolu reports 912 dead.
"Currently, 912 of our citizens have died, 5,385 of our citizens have been injured. The work to identify and rescue our citizens who were under the destroyed buildings in our provinces, where the earthquake caused great damage, continues continuously.
