EU Ambassador Katarina Mathernova handed over the European Commission’s report on Ukraine to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
He said this in Telegram, Censor.NET reports.
"I have officially received from the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernova the European Commission's report on Ukraine within the framework of the EU Enlargement Package. The document recommends starting negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Thank you for our close and fruitful cooperation during the implementation of the necessary criteria. Today's assessment is extremely important in the context of determining our further steps on the European integration path," the statement reads.
According to Shmyhal, in less than a year and a half, Ukraine has implemented a number of important structural reforms.
"At the same time, the Government conducted a self-screening of national legislation. Our next step is to prepare by the end of the year the National Program for the Adaptation of Ukrainian Legislation to the EU Acquis.
Every day, Ukraine is steadily approaching full membership in the EU," the head of government added.
As a reminder, today, 8 October 2023, the European Commission recommended starting negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
