Investigators found that in March 2022, during the occupation of the Kyiv region, Russian invaders shot dead a 49-year-old man who was delivering food and other humanitarian aid from the local church to his neighbours in the village.
"The man was not armed and did not participate in the military conflict, but while driving past the Russian checkpoint, at least 21 shots were fired from an automatic firearm at his civilian car Peugeot 308.
According to a forensic medical examination, the victim sustained a bullet wound to the left shoulder joint and a shrapnel wound to the right knee joint with multiple fractures, but remained alive. The occupiers forced him out of the car and tried to interrogate him, but due to his injuries, the man was unable to answer their questions. Having received no answers from the victim, the occupiers shot him and threw his body into a sewer well on the side of the 37th km of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr highway near the village of Buzova, Bucha district, Kyiv region," the statement said.
The man's body was found almost six months later during a routine inspection of the sewerage system by the local utility company.
"Thanks to the testimony of the deceased's daughter and the Bucha TRO fighters who were taking photos and videos of the occupiers' actions during the occupation, the National Police investigators managed to identify the suspect - a 27-year-old serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces, senior gunner of the 2nd howitzer self-propelled artillery platoon of the 5th separate tank brigade of the military unit No. 46108, stationed in Lansk-Ude, Buryatia.
