19 men who tried to illegally cross the border into Ukraine died on the Tisa River.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service, Censor.NET reports.
"Border guards pulled a half-conscious man out of the icy Tisza. The victim was lying on the edge of the river bank and showed almost no signs of life. The servicemen pulled him out of the water, gave him first aid and took him to the unit, where they warmed him up and gave him dry clothes.
The rescued man said that he had found an announcement about "legal" border crossing in a telegram. However, instead of the promised official border crossing at a checkpoint, the dealers offered the man to cross the Tisa River in the dark. The cost of the service was $5 thousand," the report says.
The State Border Guard Service noted that 19 men have been killed on the Tisza since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The border guards urged not to believe the fraudsters who assure that the border crossing will be safe and not to endanger themselves.
