According to the investigation, during 2020-2021, the founder of the investment company, his brother, and other members of the criminal group, using corrupt connections in government agencies, illegally seized land plots of the water fund on which the hydraulic structures of the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant are located. The land in question is a plot in the Vyshhorod district worth over UAH 20 million.

"They acted in the interests of several developers. Using the gaps in the legal status of the plots, the organizers, through corrupt connections in government agencies, registered them as agricultural land, which allowed them to allocate these plots to Ukrainian citizens. ... Later, the perpetrators signed several documents on behalf of the "front men" to register ownership of the land plots. Then they "resold" the land to representatives of well-known elite real estate developers in Kyiv region, who ordered and financed the illegal scheme," the SBI said.

The law enforcement officers reminded that in November 2023, eight members of the criminal organization were served a notice of suspicion. Six of them are in custody.

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to Mazepa and his accomplices detained yesterday is now being decided.

"Members of the criminal organization face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property," the SBI added.
