The Security Service’s Military Counterintelligence jointly with the NABU exposed a deputy of the Ternopil Regional Council, who is also the head of the Standing Committee on Budget, for corruption.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press centre.
According to the investigation, the official offered to assist the serviceman in allocating him financial aid for treatment. For this, after the funds were transferred to his bank card, he was to give the official half the amount.
Law enforcement officers documented the criminal activity of the People`s Deputy in stages and detained him red-handed while he was receiving a new bribe.
"Within the frame of criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official), the issue of serving him a notice of suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint is being resolved.
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The offender faces up to 10 years in prison," the SSU said.
The complex measures were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
