Since the beginning of Russia's large-scale invasion, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and approved for operational service in the armed forces about 20 models of armoured combat vehicles based on the MRAP principle.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence, Censor.NET reports.

As noted, MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) armoured vehicles are a class of military equipment with enhanced ballistic protection of the hull. These vehicles are designed with a bottom shape that is adapted to dissipate the energy of a mine or improvised explosive device explosion, as well as special shock mitigation seats for the crew and troops.

Armoured vehicles based on the MRAP principle consist of a capsule that provides protection for personnel during the explosion. The engine and wheels act as explosion-absorbing elements that absorb all the kinetic energy from the mine explosion, preserving the integrity of the module.

The Ministry of Defence said that samples of armoured vehicles manufactured by defence companies in the US, UK, Australia, Turkey, etc. had been approved for use by Ukrainian defenders. The arsenal of armoured vehicles of the Ukrainian army has also been replenished with products of Ukrainian manufacturers of the WME sector (weapons and military equipment), created using MRAP technology.
