Police officer struck and killed by car while writing road accident report in Rivne region. PHOTOS

National police senior investigator Major Ruslan Machuta was killed on the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Zelenyi Hai in Rivne region on Thursday, Jan. 7 around 3.30 p.m. when he was helping drivers, whose cars had ended up in a ditch.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the National police directorate in the Rivne region.

It is noted that the police officer was a member of the investigation team, which was returning from the site of a road accident that took place in the village of Krylov in the Rivne region. He spotted two cars that had ended up in a ditch.

The investigator stopped to provide assistance but a driver of Volkswagen Caddy that was passing by at that moment lost control and struck him.

The policeman died on the spot as a result of received injuries.
