At a briefing, Donetsk region National police head Viacheslav Abroskin has set the task to heads of territorial police detachments to ensure thorough control at the checkpoints in the region and strengthen cooperation with courier service operators.

The need for thorough inspections of transport and cargo is conditioned by the attempts to take prohibited items beyond the front-line region.

The police officers found two illegal batches of ammunition over the last week: the passengers of a van, which headed to the Rivne region from the ATO area, tried to smuggle five rocket launchers and ammunition through the Mangush checkpoint; three grenades and 140 rounds were found in Krasnoarmiisk during inspection of cargo in the premises of a courier service operator.

"The police must be proactive and block the illicit channels of weapons smuggling to the peaceful territory of Ukraine. The policemen must keep vigil over each delivery service branch. It is necessary to block the sources of explosive ordnance. The police officers must control sending of parcels to protect residents of Zakarpattia, Rivne, Lviv and other regions of the country," Police General Vyacheslav Abroskin said.

"On the one hand it is necessary to control the actions of the police officers, who are deployed at the checkpoints and on the other hand - to improve measures to record illegal crossing of checkpoints or transportation of illegal cargo and other offenses that are detected at the checkpoints in the region," the Donetsk region police head said.

The DVRs have been tested at the checkpoints near Mariupol during a week and all the checkpoints of the Donetsk region, where police officers are serving, will soon be equipped with them.
