Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, State Concern Ukroboronprom officials with the participation of the servicemen and partners from the KPI Science Park handed over a batch of advanced domestic drone systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In 2015, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine supported the initiative of the State Concern Ukroboronprom and the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" regarding establishment of Innovative and Production Association "Kyivska Politekhnika," which brought combination of science and production to qualitatively new level, Censor.NET reports citing the NSDC press service.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, the first example of the successful activity of the Association was the creation and production of BpAK-MP-1 unmanned aircraft system by the Meridian OJSC.
"The UAVs have unique performance characteristics. They have been tested by experts of the Defense Ministry. The first batch of these unmanned aircraft systems will be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and will be delivered in the ATO area in near future," he said.
"We are witnessing how quickly scientific research results turn into stock-produced items. The project of mass production of the Ukrainian unmanned aircraft systems has been implemented in less than a year," the NSDC secretary said.
"It is this mass production that makes substantial saving of budget funds possible from the stage of development to the finished system," he said, adding that the system was three times cheaper than a similar foreign one.
"The budgetary savings without decrease in quality and performance characteristics are essential, taking into account the conditions which Ukraine is currently in," the NSDC secretary said.
Oleksandr Turchynov is convinced that the unmanned aircraft systems "will be tested in no time" in combat conditions.
The NSDC Secretary thanked all who contributed in the innovative solutions, stressing that the young scientists involved in such scientific associations promote preservation of scientific potential and "contribute to the development of the country's future."
