Canadian EOD experts complete seven-month training mission in Ukraine’s Mine Action Centre. PHOTOS

The servicemen of the Mine Action Centre of the Main Directorate of operational support of Ukraine's Armed Forces in Kamianets-Podilskyi said goodbye to Operation UNIFIER ROTO II members providing Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) course in accordance with NATO standards to Ukrainian military engineers from January to August 2016.

During the meeting of the Ukrainian and Canadian EOD experts, Mine Action Centre Deputy Head Lt. Col. Oleh Havryliuk thanked Commander of the Canadian contingent in Kamianets-Podilskyi Major Hugo Marcotte and his team for their understanding, high skills and professional approach to the training of military engineers to dispose of improvised explosive devices.

"The joint work of the Ukrainian and Canadian colleagues will always bring back fond memories in the hearts of all Mine Action Centre servicemen, for our foreign guests have become our true friends over the seven months we spent together in Kamianets-Podilskyi," Lt. Col. Oleh Havryliuk said.

In turn, Major Hugo Marcotte thanked the Mine Action Center staff for hearty welcome and hospitality and noted that personally for him the the visit to Ukraine left unforgettable positive impressions both of Ukrainian state in general and ordinary Ukrainians in particular.

At parting, the military exchanged souvenirs and gifts as a sign of friendly relations between Ukraine and Canada and planted both countries' national trees - a maple and a guelder rose.

The next rotation of Canadian Armed Forces' military instructors will start working at the Mine Action Centre in Kamianets-Podilskyi on Aug. 8.
