President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.

"Today, the OSCE faces an unprecedented challenge when the aggression of one member state against Ukraine has virtually invalidated the heritage of the Helsinki Final Act," Petro Poroshenko said.

The parties have discussed the intensification of international presence in the region, first of all, through the deployment of OSCE's armed police mission in the Donbas.

The president stressed Russia's continuous supply of military equipment, armament, regular troops and mercenaries across the uncontrolled part of the Ukraine-Russia state border. In this context, the key value is attached to the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements in terms of ensuring OSCE's constant monitoring over the temporarily uncontrolled area of the state border.

Poroshenko urged the OSCE to fully use its potential to put an end to the brutal violation of the rights of Ukrainian citizens in the occupied territory. In particular, the parties have discussed the issue of soonest liberation of hostages and political prisoners illegally detained in Russia and the terrorist-held part of the Donbas.

Lamberto Zannier offered reassurance that the OSCE will further support Ukraine in overcoming today's challenges.

In turn, Poroshenko thanked the OSCE special monitors in the Donbas, who continue to perform the mandate of the mission despite provocations by pro-Russian militants.
