Ammunition worth 7 billion hryvnia returned to Ukraine Army, - Matios. PHOTOS
As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios on his Facebook page.
"We have returned shells and ammo to our Army worth 7.3 billion hryvnia," he wrote.
Three judges of Kyiv District Administrative Court Fedorchuk, Kachura and Keleberda ruled that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine should return military property, including various types of ammunition and shells, to the Ukrainian Army.
Matios said that now the Ukrainian army will not have to buy deficit bullets of 7.62 mm and 14.5 mm caliber at market prices. It will also allow saving 7.3 billion hryvnia of the defense budget for several years. The defense capacity of the state has also increased, Matios said.
The total worth of the returned items reaches 7,236,381,330 hryvnia ($268,01 million), the military prosecutor said.
As reported, March 23, 2017, an emergency arose at the military ammunition depot of the Defense Ministry at Balakliia, the Kharkiv region, due to explosions of ammunition. Several storage areas of rocket and missile artillery ordnance (tank and artillery missiles of 125 mm and 152 mm caliber) were impacted by explosion and caught fire, which caused the detonation of the ammunition. Residents of the nearby areas have been evacuated.
Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios said the emergency in Balakliia was an act of sabotage.
Later, a video of the explosion at Balakliia ammunition depot was published online.
