Fire in Odesa camp: activists and police scuffle outside mayor's office, detentions reported. PHOTOS

Leader of the Svoboda party cell in Odesa, ex-MP Pavlo Kyrylenko addressed the audience. He said that Odesa mayor Hennadii Trukhanov should retire, and the city council should voluntarily dissolve.
At the beginning, a scuffle occurred between the participants and law enforcers after one of the activists wearing a balaclava refused to remove it at the request of the police.
Later, another brawl took place between the activists and the National Guard soldiers as the former were trying to enter the mayor's office.
At 10:50 a.m., a fierce fight with the police occurred at the mayor's office side entrance. The session that was taking place in the city hall was adjourned. Activists in the street fired up flares and started chanting "Away with Trukhanov!"
At 11:10 a.m., a new fight broke out. The police used gas. Several activists were detained while some got injured.
Three girls aged 8, 9, and 12 were reported dead in the fire that destroyed a building in Viktoria children's camp in Odesa. The bodies of two girls were found at the fire site, the third girl was announced missing. Some remains that might belong to the third girl, 12-year-old Snizhana, were later discovered at the site.
The fire in the camp erupted at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 15. 150 children were staying in the camp, including 42 in the building that caught fire.
Following the incident, it emerged that the facility's fire alarm and extinguishing system had not operated properly despite significant investments in its refurbishing in 2016. The investigation into the tragedy has been launched. The camp's director and fire safety manager have been indicted and detained.
