SBU detains armed Russian after he made cache of explosives near Kyiv’s railroad station. PHOTOS

The law enforcers found that a Russian national was looking for persons capable of hiring protesters to organize rallies that would subsequently block highways. Following instructions of his supervisors, he also planned to establish a fake tent camp outside the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to stage hired protest against the adoption of the new Law "On Education".
SBU officers foiled the perpetrator's plans and banished him from the country for anti-state activities.
While investigating activities of other members of the crime ring, the operatives found out involvement of another Russian national in a series of crimes. The perpetrator, who temporarily stayed in the Dnipropetrovsk region, burned a car owned by a Ukrainian lawmaker's family member on the night of Oct. 21, 2017 at the request of his Russian supervisors. This event was promptly covered by the Russian and Belarusian media. Subsequently, the SBU operatives recorded the attempts to acquire weapons and poisonous substances by that very person.
The offender was detained when he was plotting another crime in Kyiv. Law enforcers found a hand grenade and a knuckleduster on him.

The foreigner disguised himself as a member of a special operations unit of the National Police of Ukraine to make it easier for him to implement his malicious intentions. The investigation is underway.
