One of the terrorist leaders of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" Igor Girkin, also known as Strelkov ("Shooter"), said that he had previously worked for the FSB, then retired, and on March 31 left the military unit with the rank of colonel in the reserve.
Girkin told in an interview when asked whether it was true that he was a colonel in the Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia (GRU), Censor.NET reports citing gazeta.ua.
Girkin also said that he had fought in Transnistria, in Serbian Bosnia (for five months), participated in the first and second Chechen wars "for quite a while."
Earlier Censor.NET reported that the FSB had been arranging their structure in the Donbas for more than two years.
