Over one year Germany has changed its position from de facto neutrality to weapons supply to Ukraine, said Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Oleksii Makeyev.
He stated this in an exclusive comment to Radio Svoboda during the conference of Ambassadors of Ukraine in Kyiv, informs Censor.NЕТ.
The Ambassador assures that there is constant progress in the attitude of German society and German politicians towards Ukraine.
"My main task now is to ensure that the narrative that has changed over the past year from Germany's de facto neutrality, non-supply of weapons to massive supply of weapons, as they said in the German politics back in the summer "so that Ukraine does not lose", I would like this narrative to turn into a stable narrative "we help Ukraine as much as it will take for Ukraine to win", - Oleksii Makeyev said.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany sees the reason for this change in rhetoric in the fact that the whole world is sobering up after blindly trusting Russia and Putin's regime.
"The attack, full-scale aggression against Ukraine has opened the eyes for many societies, many politicians. And nothing else remains but to feel the heartbeat of society. In German society, more than 70% support not only the assistance to Ukraine, but also support the assistance to Ukraine with weapons. This is exactly what our girls and boys on the frontline need the most," the Ambassador concluded.
