"We are finishing this day in Poltava. It's been quite a long day. And emotional. In the morning I was in Donetsk region, in our Avdiivka. It's hard to see what Russian terrorists have done to this city... And I honor each of our warriors, all Ukrainians who have been restraining and gradually destroying this Russian evil for 419 days and 9 years.
I had the honor of congratulating Ukrainian soldiers and officers on Easter and presenting awards. I often thank them in my evening addresses... For their accuracy and bravery, for the destruction of the occupiers. The 55th separate artillery brigade, the marines of the 35th and 36th separate brigades, the paratroopers of the 79th separate brigade, the soldiers of the 110th separate mechanized brigade... the 501st separate marine battalion... the Bohdan Khmelnytsky separate presidential brigade... Thank you all for your service! And I thank you all for the chevrons you gave me today: it is truly an honor. Thank you, guys!
I especially want to thank our Medical Forces, all the doctors, nurses and brothers who bring our defenders back to life after being wounded. I visited hospitals both in Donetsk region and here in Poltava... I am proud of our people, who are strong even when they are still recovering. Honor and respect to all those who treat our soldiers!
It is important that we do not lose a single day in communication with our partners. And it was from here, from Poltava, that I had a conversation with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Kevin McCarthy. I thanked him for his continued bipartisan support. Having just returned from a trip to the frontline, I informed Mr. McCarthy about what is happening at the frontline, about our defense needs and capabilities. I raised the issue of F-16s, long-range weapons, additional artillery, and a tribunal - a tribunal for Russia's aggression against our country. Together, we are making the free world stronger, and every dollar of investment in this strength is absolutely clear and accountable to our partners. I invited Mr. Speaker to visit Ukraine.
I thank Donetsk and Poltava regions for today! I thank everyone who is working for our victory! Glory to each and everyone who is now in combat, at combat posts, in combat missions!" Zelenskyy said.
