Man tried to illegally cross Ukrainian border in trucker’s bed for $5 thousand - State Border Guard Service. VIDEO&PHOTOS
Border guards found a man in bed of a trucker who was trying to cross Ukrainian-Polish border outside of border control. As law enforcement officers found out, trucker took USD 5,000 from the man for illegal transportation services.
This is reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service, Censor.NET reports.
"Border guards of the Volyn Detachment found an illegal passenger in a truck. The man intended to cross the Ukrainian-Polish border without passing border control.
The offender was detected at midnight last night by a border patrol while inspecting a DAF truck travelling to Poland through the Yahodyn checkpoint. There was operational information about the driver regarding an in-depth inspection of his vehicle.
While checking the cabin, the border guard came across a man sitting quietly under a blanket on the berth. The 35-year-old Kyiv resident, who had no legal grounds for travelling abroad, decided to get there illegally. And a truck driver agreed to help him. As the law enforcement officers found out, the carrier charged a fee of USD 5 thousand for his service.
That was the end of the trip for both of them. A report of administrative offence was drawn up against the man for playing 'hide and seek' with the border guards. The driver faces criminal liability for smuggling a person across the border, as his actions have signs of a criminal offence under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Border guards informed the National Police of the detected offence in accordance with the established procedure," the statement said.
