In an exclusive interview with Butusov Plus, Vitalii, a fighter with the unit's call sign Texas, told about the details of the battles with the occupiers.
"It all started on 30 September. We received a command on the radio to prepare for battle. Then the enemy started artillery preparation. Guns and mortars also started working on our side... The enemy went on the offensive and faced heavy fire from our company. The fire was so powerful that the enemy could not even climb the hillside where our position was located. We were constantly receiving information from aerial reconnaissance and simply did not allow the occupiers to move out of their hiding places. So they were forced to retreat. In my opinion, it was reconnaissance by combat. And we began to prepare for more serious enemy attacks - we replenished water and food supplies, further strengthened our position, replenished our anti-tank weapons... Russian armoured vehicles were moving to our left - first tanks with infantry, then APCs with infantry. After the fighting, two tanks, two armoured personnel carriers, and two infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed in front of our position. The attack was wave-like. Two or three tanks would break through and throw the infantry into the trenches. And so on. In most cases, such assault groups were covered by our artillery or armoured vehicles were blown up by anti-tank mines. Those who managed to get to the landing site and jump off the tank, we tried to destroy with a machine gun... There was a moment when we were very afraid for our right flank. Either out of desperation or indifference, I just took my assault rifle and went there, standing on the road and shooting everyone who approached. Then, with a Chlomian from a neighbouring position, we fired grenade launchers... That day, the attacks from the right flank stopped..."
