The president thanked Ukrainian military for the holiday and announced that "Ukrainians have stood in order to win."

The head of state said this in his New Year greeting to the people,published by presidential press service, Censor.NET reports.

"Peace and calm, freedom and independence, prosperity and unity - this is what every Ukrainian strives for. Let us lower our heads towards the honored Ukrainian soldiers for making this holiday happen. Those who are not at a warm holiday table, but in a cold winter entrenchment. Not with a glass in a hand, but with a rifle ready. Glory to heroes!", Poroshenko said.
