About the Censor.NET project
Censor.NET is a Ukrainian socio-political news portal founded by journalist Yurii Butusov in 2004. For more than 20 years we have been covering the main events in Ukraine and around the world: the war, politics, the economy, business and society. The portal consistently ranks among the leading online media in Ukraine, with over 13 million visits every month.
Our principles
The name Censor.NET is our position: "censorship - no". We work without censorship: we publish verified facts, rely on our own sources and call things by their names. Exclusive interviews, on-the-ground reporting and investigative journalism are the core of our work. The editorial team follows an editorial policy (in Ukrainian) that guarantees honesty and accountability for every published story.
What we cover
Main sections of the English version:
- News - a round-the-clock feed of events in Ukraine and worldwide: the situation on the front line, General Staff reports, actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, government decisions and international politics.
- Events - the day's top stories selected by the editors.
- Articles - exclusive interviews with the military and politicians, analysis and investigative reports.
- Photo and Video - reports from the front line and the scene of events.
- Drone industry - a special project about drones, robotics and Ukrainian defense technologies that are changing the course of the war.
The full Ukrainian version also includes Blogs by the military, volunteers, politicians and experts, one of the most active news Forum communities of the Ukrainian internet, and Business Censor - a separate section on the economy and finance.
Materials are published in Ukrainian and Russian, and a selection of them is translated into English.
Recognition
In March 2015 Censor.NET was named the best online media of the year by the national "Person of the Year" award program. Editor-in-chief Yurii Butusov received the award at the ceremony held at the Ukraina Palace in Kyiv.
In 2020 the Censor.NET trademark was officially recognized as well-known in Ukraine by a decision of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
