There may be up to 3 million veterans in Ukraine after war, - Kondratiuk

At the end of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, there may be up to three million veterans in Ukraine.
The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Olena Kondratyuk, said this during a speech on the sidelines of the Kyiv Security Forum, Censor.NET reports.
She informed that the total amount of documented damages caused to the infrastructure of Ukraine due to the full-scale invasion of Russia, as of April, reaches $147.5 billion.
Almost 158,000 houses and 3,200 educational facilities were damaged or destroyed in Ukraine.
"Among them are more than 1,500 schools, almost a thousand kindergartens, 538 institutions of higher education," added the vice-speaker of the Ukrainian parliament.
Also, as a result of the war, 806 medical facilities were destroyed or damaged, including 367 hospitals and 341 dispensaries.
According to Kondratyuk, all this can be rebuilt only in cooperation with global partners, in particular, the UN.
She also reported that almost 200,000 square kilometers of the territory of Ukraine are mined. The vice-speaker compared the size of these territories to the size of two Hungarys or one Great Britain.
In addition, Kondratyuk emphasized that 20,000 children were deported to the Russian Federation.
At the same time, she added: "It is expected that there will be up to three million veterans in Ukraine, whom we simply have to return to a normal, adequate life."
According to Kondratyuk, this should be a joint task of the authorities, civil society, women's organizations, and the veterans themselves.
"We need permanent peace to start reconstruction. We need a strategic vision of the architecture of the future Ukraine, one where values, justice, and unity will be fundamental," - summed up the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada.
