The Kyiv City Council has voted to compensate passengers who are forced to transfer to ground transportation due to closed stations of the blue line of the metro. The compensation will start on Monday.

The mayor of Kyiv announced this in his Telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.

"On my initiative, the Kyiv City Council has decided today that subway passengers should not overpay for forced transfers to ground transportation at Lybidska station. Kyiv residents will be compensated for their trips to buses and trolleybuses due to the closure of 6 stations of the "blue" metro line. The route from Teremky to any other metro station will still cost 8 UAH," Klitschko said.

He emphasized that a passenger traveling by land and subway will pay only for one trip.

"During the trip, you will need to validate the transport card at each transfer. But at night, extra trips will be returned to the card. The ride refund system will start working on Monday," the Kyiv mayor emphasized.

He clarified that on Friday the details will be published in the Kyiv Digital app.

On December 8, the Kyiv City State Administration announced the closure of Demiivska, Holosiivska, Vasylkivska, Vystavkovyi Tsentr, Ipodrom, and Teremky metro stations. They will be closed for six months as repairs are underway due to new cracks and water ingress into the tunnels.

In connection with the flooding of the tunnels on the Obolon-Teremky subway line, a pre-trial investigation was launched into the fact of official negligence that caused grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Following a decision of the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies, changes were made to the traffic management on a number of Kyiv roads due to the situation in the subway.

A "shuttle" train route was launched between Teremky and Demiivska.
