France at UN: Weapons supplies and support for Ukraine will continue

The international community will continue to support Ukraine’s defense despite Russia’s blatant attempts to manipulate the UN agenda and Russia’s cynical accusations of alleged violations of existing treaties.
This statement was made by a representative of the French delegation to the UN, Alexandre Olmedo, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"If Ukraine needs weapons today, it is because Russia started this war, because it deployed massive amounts of military equipment on the borders with Ukraine before the invasion," the French representative emphasized.
He reminded that it is the Russian Federation that violates UN Security Council resolutions by purchasing weapons from countries under international embargo, including Iran and North Korea. In addition, Russia is bombing civilians and infrastructure in violation of International Humanitarian Law.
Olmedo called the meeting of the UN Security Council convened by Russia to address violations of international arms treaties "a gross attempt at manipulation."
"It is strange to see Russia worrying about the consequences of an aggressive war that it started and for which it is fully responsible," the French diplomat added.
The French representative assured that his country, as well as the entire European Union, would continue to provide Ukraine with all the necessary support.
"This support is aimed solely at enabling Ukraine to exercise its right to legitimate self-defense, preserve its sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. These are principles enshrined in international law and the UN Charter," Olmedo emphasized.
