After unsuccessful offensive, Russia switched to strategic defense operation - Budanov
Another attempt by Russia to launch an offensive has failed, after which Russia has switched to a strategic defense operation to hold occupied Ukrainian territories.
This was stated by the Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, informs Censor.NЕТ with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
"On March 31, 2023, another attempt of the Russian offensive failed. The so-called winter-spring offensive. It's official. On March 31, they were supposed to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Again, this is not even the fifth attempt that failed," Budanov said.
He emphasized that the Russian Federation currently has no potential for a strategic offensive.
"And it will not be in the near future. Russia has switched to a strategic defense operation. Their task is to hold on to the territories they have seized, disrupting our operation to liberate them," the DIU chief said.
