The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 6:00 p.m. on April 18, 2023.

In the evening summation, it is noted: "The Russian Federation continues to ignore International Humanitarian Law, strikes and fires not only at the positions of our troops, but also at the civilian infrastructure of populated areas, terrorizing civilians.
During the day, the enemy launched 4 rockets and 44 air strikes, launched about 20 rocket salvo fire attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas, and civilians were injured.
The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains quite high.
The enemy, at the cost of heavy losses, continues to wage a war of aggression. The main efforts are focused on conducting offensive actions in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka directions. During the day, about 30 enemy attacks were repulsed in the specified areas of the front. The fiercest battles are fought for Bakhmut and Mariinka.
In the Volyn, Polissia, Siversk, and Slobozhansk directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. Certain units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus continue to perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine. Some units of the territorial troops of the armed forces of the Russian Federation are still located on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
The enemy's military presence is maintained in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine.
During the day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Korenyok, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Iskryskivshchyna, and Volfyne in the Sumy region, as well as Veterinarne, Kozacha Lopan, Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Okhrimivka, and Nesterne in the Kharkiv region.
Kamianka, Ridkodub, Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, and Zapadne of the Kharkiv region were hit by enemy artillery fire in the Kupiansk direction.
In the Lymansky direction, the enemy tried to improve the tactical position, conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the settlement of Dibrova. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region and Ivanivka, Torske, and Spirne of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Heavy fighting continues for the city of Bakhmut. Vasiukivka, Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanovske, Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Toretsk, and New York of the Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the areas of Stepove, Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Severne, and Nevelske of the Donetsk region, without success. He shelled, in particular, the settlements of Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske.
In the Mariinka direction, during the day, our defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the area of the Mariinka settlement. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Mariinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region came under enemy fire.
During the current day, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Shakhtarske direction. He shelled the settlements of Shakhtarske, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, and Velyka Novosilka of the Donetsk region.
The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Shelled, in particular, Novopil of Donetsk region; Olhivske, Chervone, Huliaipole, Charivne, Orihiv, Stepove, and Plavni of the Zaporizhzhia region; Antonivka of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson, there are casualties among the civilian population.
During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces made 3 strikes on personnel concentration areas and a strike on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile complex.
Units of missile troops and artillery hit 2 areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, a radio-electronic warfare station and another important military object of the occupiers.
