The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 6:00 p.m. on April 23, 2023.
As Censor.NET informs, this was announced on the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The evening summary states: "The Russian Federation does not give up its plans to occupy our territory. It continues to ignore International Humanitarian Law, strikes and fires not only at the positions of our troops, but also at the civilian infrastructure of populated areas, terrorizing civilians.
During the day, the enemy carried out 28 airstrikes and carried out about 10 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. There are wounded among the civilian population, destroyed and damaged private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.
The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
The enemy is concentrating its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka areas. Over 45 enemy attacks were repulsed by units of the defense forces of Ukraine during the day on the specified areas of the front. The fiercest battles continue for Bakhmut and Mariinka.
The operational situation remains stable in the Volyn and Polissia directions. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus continue to perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine. Some units of the territorial troops of the armed forces of the Russian Federation continue to be on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the enemy continues to keep a certain number of his troops in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine. During the day, he shelled the settlements of Chervona Zorya in the Sumy region, as well as Hoptivka, Zelene, Neskuchne, Budarky, Milove, and Krasne Pershe in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the settlements of Dvorichna, Hrianikyvka, Masiutivka, Lyman Pershy, Kislivka, and Berestove of the Kharkiv region were hit by enemy artillery fire.
The enemy did not carry out any offensive operations in the Lyman direction that day. Settlements near the battle line, such as Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Dibrova, Verkhnokamianske, and Spirne in Donetsk region, were hit by artillery fire.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions.
Heavy fighting continues for the city of Bakhmut. Also, during the day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions on the outskirts of Hryhorivka and Bohdanivka settlements. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Novodmytrivka, Kostyantynivka and New York of the Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the Novokalynove and Pervomaiske regions of the Donetsk region, without success, and suffered heavy losses. Shelled settlements near the contact line, in particular: Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Lastochkine, Pervomaiske, Karlivka, and Nevelske of the Donetsk region.
In the Mariinka direction, during the day, our defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the northern and central parts of the Mariinka settlement, as well as in the Novomykhailivka area of the Donetsk region. At the same time, the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Mariinka, Novomykhailivka and Paraskoviivka of the Donetsk region were subjected to enemy shelling.
During the current day, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Shakhtarsky direction. He shelled the settlements of Bohoiavlenka, Novoukrainka, Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva, Velyka Novosilka of the Donetsk region.
The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. At the same time, over 35 settlements were shelled during the day. Among them are Vremivka of Donetsk region; Malynivka, Hulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka and Kamianske of the Zaporizhzhia region; Zolota Balka, Beryslav, Vesele, Ivanivka, Inzhenerne, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Veletenske, Kizomys of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.
Having no significant achievements on the battlefield, servicemen of the Soviet Union and representatives of the "Wagner" PMC are increasingly trying to find those responsible for this. Responsibility for own tactical miscalculations and losses is transferred to each other. As a result, recently, in the settlement of Stanytsia Luhanska, Luhansk region, a fight took place between servicemen of the Soviet Union and mercenaries of the "Wagner" PMC, which turned into a shootout. As a result of the conflict, there are casualties on both sides.
Russian occupation forces continue to suffer heavy losses on the battlefield. All medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territory are full of wounded occupiers. As a result, the enemy is forced to use the educational institutions of the temporarily occupied territories for their own purposes. Thus, in the village of Mystka in the Luhansk region, the invaders converted a local school into a military hospital. There are a large number of wounded Russians. In addition, there is a large shortage of medicines and dressing materials in all medical facilities of the occupiers.
During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces carried out 11 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of the occupiers. Also, 2 enemy reconnaissance UAVs of the "Merlin" type and 1 - "Orlan-10" were shot down.
