Training and delivery of M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine will take place by end of this year - Pentagon
The M1 Abrams tanks, which the US will soon send to Germany, will be used only for training Ukrainian tankers and will be different from the combat tanks that will be provided to Ukraine separately.
This was announced by Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"These tanks (to be sent to Germany - ed.) will be used only for training. These are not the upgraded tanks that will later go to Ukraine," the US Defense Department spokesman clarified.
Ryder also noted that the M1 Abrams combat tanks intended for use by Ukrainian forces in real-world conditions will be equipped in accordance with the specifics of combat operations in Ukraine.
The Pentagon representative expressed his expectation that the final training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel on American tanks, as well as the transfer of individual M1 Abrams combat units to Ukraine, will take place by the end of 2023.
