Poland wants to extend ban on import of Ukrainian agricultural products until end of year

As part of negotiations with the European Commission, Poland is trying to ensure that the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products remains in effect until the end of the year.

This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Robert Telus, Censor.NET informs with reference to RMF24.

"The European Union suggested that it should be until June. Of course, we do not agree with this. June is not enough, we need at least until the end of the year. It is very important for us that the mechanisms we are introducing today work longer so that they protect our Polish market longer," he said.

Telus noted that the European Union has already agreed to some proposals from Poland and other neighbors of Ukraine.

"Several products are already on the list for discussion, but we have even more products that we want to fight for together," he said.

This applies to apple juice, poultry, and soft fruits. In addition, negotiators insist that the 100 million euros offered by the European Union to help farmers are too little.

Negotiations between the European Commission and the informal coalition of five Ukrainian neighbors - Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Bulgaria - will continue on Tuesday.
