Fiercest battles are in area of Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Enemy activity is also observed in Kreminna direction, - Syrsky

In the east, the enemy is advancing in several directions. The fiercest battles continue near the towns of Bakhmut and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.
Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
He noted that the enemy continues to try to surround and capture Bakhmut and Avdiivka, despite huge losses in manpower and equipment.
"Also, the enemy is active in the Kreminsk direction, trying to dislodge our troops from the Serebriansk Forestry south of Kreminna, thereby creating favorable conditions for the development of an offensive in the direction of Lyman. Military units of OTG "Lyman" repulse the attacks of the enemy, causing him significant losses. And, in fact, in the Lyman direction, our fighters prevent the enemy from advancing. In order to strengthen our defense capabilities, the troops were regrouped here and the positions were equipped in the sense of fortification," said Syrsky.
In the rest of the directions, the situation is under control, without any particulars, said the commander of the eastern group of troops.
"Bakhmut remains the focus of the enemy's main efforts among all other areas. For Russia, eastern Ukraine is the only part of the frontline where it has made any progress since the start of the 'great offensive'. The plan to "conquer Ukraine in three days" has been transformed into a nine-month effort around a small city. After a series of defeats in the north and south of Ukraine, the Russian leadership needs to demonstrate at least the slightest success in occupying Donbas. Without capturing it, the occupiers will not be able to develop an offensive towards Kramatorsk and Siversk. Therefore, Russian propaganda presents the battle for Bakhmut as the second "Battle of Stalingrad". They like to make such parallels. And to achieve its goals, Russia will spare neither human nor material resources," added Syrsky.
