Russians are focusing their main efforts on Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Mariinka directions. Heavy fighting continues, - General Staff
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released an update on the Russian invasion as of 6:00 p.m. on 11 July 2023.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported on the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The evening summary reads: "During the day, the Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed drones. A total of 28 kamikaze drones were used. As a result of successful combat work, our air defence destroyed 26 attack UAVs and 2 reconnaissance drones of the Zala type. The enemy also carried out 54 air strikes and fired 38 times from multiple launch rocket systems at our troops' positions and settlements. Unfortunately, in addition to the destroyed infrastructure, civilians suffered.
The likelihood of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.
The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Mariinka directions, and heavy fighting continues. There were 17 combat engagements over the last day.
The situation in the Volyn and Polissia sectors remained unchanged. No signs of the formation of offensive groups were detected. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
The enemy maintains military presence in the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions. During the day, it conducted an air strike near Volfyno, Sumy region. It fired mortar and artillery shells at more than 15 settlements. These included Karpovychi in the Chernihiv region; Romashkove in the Sumy region; and Strilecha, Vetarynarne and Sotnytsia Kozachok in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, our soldiers are holding steadfastly. Krasne Pershe, Kamianka, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Masiutivka and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Vesele, Donetsk region. Nevske and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhniokamianske and Vesele in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.
In the Bakhmut direction, under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, our defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks near Hryhorivka and east of Orikhovo-Vasylivka. More than 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Khromove, Chasiv Yar and Ivanivske in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defence forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the areas of Avdiivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske. The enemy conducted an air strike near the town of Avdiivka. At the same time, the occupants shelled more than 10 localities, including Avdiivka, Berdychi and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Mariinka direction, under enemy artillery fire, our defenders repelled all attacks in the areas of Pobieda, Novomykhailivka and Mariinka. The enemy fired at more than 10 localities, including Kostiantynivka, Mariinka and Elizavetivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Blahodatne. It carried out air strikes near Odradne and Makarivka. It fired on the localities of Vuhledar, Blahodatne, Velyka Novosilka, Vodiane and Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is focusing its main efforts on preventing further advance of our troops. The enemy launched air strikes near the settlements of Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region and Zolota Balka in the Kherson region. It shelled more than 25 localities, including Huliaipole, Huliaipilske, Zaliznychne, Olhivske in Zaporizhzhia region; Kozatske, Lvove, Inzhenerne, Tokarivka in Kherson region and the city of Kherson, as well as Dniprovske, Dmytrivka and Ivanivka in the Mykolaiv region. At the same time, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.
In the town of Henichesk in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region, repressions against Ukrainian citizens are gaining momentum. According to available information, it has become much easier to get to the "basement", as local collaborators, wishing to curry favour with the ROF, are constantly slandering citizens and conducting unjustified inspections. The occupiers also threaten the local population that if they do not have a Russian passport, they will be forcibly deported to Siberia and all their property will be confiscated.
Over the past day, the aviation of the defence forces carried out 14 strikes on areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 3 on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
Missile and artillery units struck 3 control points, 10 artillery pieces at firing positions, 1 air defence facility and 1 enemy electronic warfare station over the course of the day."
