During the heating season of 2024-2025, Russian occupation forces carried out 9 massive attacks on the Ukrainian energy system.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy, Censor.NET reports.
"Blackouts, long power outages - everything that experts predicted did not happen. Contrary to apocalyptic predictions, the power system has survived. There were no massive blackouts for household consumers, despite the high intensity of massive and daily targeted strikes on the energy sector," said Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
December 13, 2024, was the most powerful since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when the energy infrastructure was simultaneously attacked by more than 300 weapons.
"Even after the most massive strikes, the power company quickly restored power supply, and there were no restrictions in a few days. And since January, there have been no restrictions on electricity supply to the population at all. This is the result of tremendous work, professionalism and incredible resilience," the Minister added.
Also, 60% of the generation facilities damaged in 2024 have been restored.
"We continue to adapt Ukrainian energy legislation to European standards, and are actively working to unite the energy markets of Ukraine and the EU. Preparations for the next heating season have already begun and all work is being carried out according to the schedule," the Ministry of Energy summarized.
