Forty-eight individuals accused of corruption have voluntarily enlisted in Armed Forces of Ukraine – SAPO

SAPO: 48 defendants in corruption cases mobilized to the Armed Forces

Currently, there are 48 individuals involved in SAPO and NABU corruption cases in Ukraine who have chosen to voluntarily join the Armed Forces in order to avoid punishment.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), according to Censor.NET.

"Unfortunately, the enlistment of defendants in SAPO and NABU cases has become one of the current and popular ways to evade criminal liability. At present, 48 individuals have voluntarily mobilized into the Armed Forces after the indictments in their cases were submitted to court," the statement reads.

As a result, the trials have been suspended, and the statute of limitations is running out — which increases the likelihood that the defendants will avoid punishment, SAPO explained.

As a reminder, on April 9, 2025, the accused former State Fiscal Service (SFS) head Nasirov did not come to the HACC hearing. The defense noted that Nasirov was drafted into the Armed Forces during mobilization, so he could not come to court.

Subsequently, the Armed Forces canceled the order to mobilize Nasirov and launched an internal investigation.

The court extended the bail for the former head of the Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, for two months.
